Printed Ephemera

Printed ephemera are documents produced for short term use, to be discarded. The documents come in many forms; menus, post cards, programmes and greeting cards to name a few. Because printed ephemera is made to be thrown away not many survived and this is why collections of them are so important.

Printed ephemera is used as a method of spreading information, but collections of historical ephemera act as time capsules allowing us to see how politics, culture and the economy was in the past.
