Indexical Drawing

Indexical drawing is capturing an image of something without actually having the object in the image – capturing traces of something, an essence of the object.
My examples from this mornings walk includ marks made with found plants/twigs used as paintbrushes. The twigs create interesting and varied marks for example; and blog-2and

Where as these indexical drawings are created from applying pressure to a surface, a bollard, nail in a bench, a bridge and moss covered bridge. blog
